The farmhouse is surrounded by fields of wheat and sunflowers and is reached by a 600m tarmac lane that only goes to the house so there is no passing traffic which means that it is quiet and safe.

The area around Mezerville is rich in wildlife. Several species of orchid can be found in May and June; other wild flowers grow in abundance along the roadsides throughout the summer. Hoopoes, golden orioles and bee eaters are regular summer visitors. There are a pair of hen harriers that frequently hunt over the fields and occasionally other birds of prey can be seen.
